{"id":4459,"date":"2026-04-30T10:39:01","date_gmt":"2026-04-30T10:39:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dar.aswu.edu.eg\/en\/?page_id=4459"},"modified":"2026-04-30T10:39:01","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T10:39:01","slug":"curriculums-in-the-department-of-grammar-and-morphology","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/dar.aswu.edu.eg\/en\/curriculums-in-the-department-of-grammar-and-morphology\/","title":{"rendered":"Curriculum for the Grammar and Morphology Department"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Grammar is studied throughout the year in all four years of study.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">First Year:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\">a) Grammar: Sentence components: sentence prefixes, noun, verb, particle, inflection and indeclinability, definite and indefinite nouns, nominal sentences, verbal sentences, subject, passive subject, objects, adverbial phrase, specification, prepositions, genitive construction, exclamation, modifiers, vocative case.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">(b) Morphology: Conjugation of verbs: conjugation, morphological scale, the basic and derived forms, triliteral verb forms, formation of the present tense from quadriliteral, quinqueliteral and hexaliteral verbs \u2013 transitivity and intransitivity of the verb \u2013 immutability and conjugation of the verb, emphasis of the present tense verb \u2013 assigning verbs to pronouns.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Second year:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">(a) Grammar: Sentence Preliminaries and Elements: A Detailed Study:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Speech and its components \u2013 inflected and uninflected words \u2013 indefinite and definite nouns, proper nouns, demonstrative pronouns, relative pronouns, nouns with a definite article, the beginning of a sentence, the verbs of being (kana and its sisters) \u2013 verbs similar to &#8220;laysa&#8221; (not) \u2013 verbs of approximation \u2013 the verbs of being (inna and its sisters) \u2013 the negating &#8220;la&#8221; (not) \u2013 the verbs of thinking (dhanna and its sisters) \u2013 &#8220;a&#8217;lama&#8221; (I know) and &#8220;araa&#8221; (I see) \u2013 the subject \u2013 the passive subject \u2013 the predicate \u2013 the grammatical conflict \u2013 the absolute object \u2013 the object of purpose \u2013 the adverbial \u2013 the object of accompaniment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">(b) Morphology and Prosody:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">1- Morphology:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Noun conjugation: verbal noun forms \u2013 active and passive participles and adjectives \u2013 intensive forms \u2013 superlative verbs \u2013 instrument nouns \u2013 nouns of time and place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">2- Prosody: Simple meters: Kamil \u2013 Wafir \u2013 Rajaz \u2013 Hazaj \u2013 Ramal \u2013 Mutaqarib \u2013 Mutadarak.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Third Section:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">(a) Grammar:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Sentence complements: exception, adverbial phrase, specification, prepositions, genitive construction, verbal noun usage, active participle, exclamation, The verbs <em>ni\u02bfma<\/em> (how excellent) and <em>bi\u02besa<\/em> (how bad) and other expressions that function in the same way\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u00a0(b) Morphology and Prosody:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">1- Morphology:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Dual formation of nouns, forming adjectives of relation (nisba), and diminutive formation Feminization \u2013 the dual and plural forms of maq\u1e63\u016br, manq\u016b\u1e63, and mamd\u016bd nouns \u2013 broken plurals \u2013 diminutive formation \u2013 and the formation of Nasab (relational adjectives).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">2- Prosody:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Compound meters: Tawil (long), Basit (simple), Madid (long), Khafif (light), Sari&#8217; (swift), Munsarih (flowing), Mujtath (truthful), Muqtadab (concise), and Mudari&#8217; (present).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Fourth year:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">(a) Grammar:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Dependent Words and the Conjugation of the Present Tense: Adjective &#8211; Emphasis &#8211; Apposition &#8211; Coordination &#8211; Substitution &#8211; Vocative &#8211; Supplication &#8211; Lamentation &#8211; Truncation &#8211; Specialization &#8211; Warning and Enticement &#8211;
