This department studies Arabic, Persian, and Hebrew linguistics.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

First Year:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

a) General Linguistics:<\/span><\/p>\n

Its definition, properties, and classification; Language as a system (phonetic, morphological, syntactic, semantic); Linguistic levels; Spoken and written language.<\/span><\/p>\n

The place of linguistics among the humanities; Philology; Branches of linguistics; Research methodologies in linguistics; Its relationship to other sciences.<\/span><\/p>\n

b) Arabic Linguistics:<\/span><\/p>\n

Its definition and properties; The Holy Quran and the Arabic language; Arabic dialects; Writing and its stages of development; Arabic sciences.<\/span><\/p>\n

Second Year:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

a) Linguistics:<\/span><\/p>\n

First: Arabic phonetics; Linguistic library.<\/span><\/p>\n

Second: Arabic dictionaries (their origins, types, and schools).<\/span><\/p>\n

(b) Semitic and Oriental Studies:<\/span><\/p>\n

This is divided into Persian and Hebrew, and the student chooses one language to study:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Hebrew: Basic rules for reading and writing Hebrew; simplified prose texts for grammar practice; an introduction to the history of Semitic languages \u200b\u200band the relationship between Hebrew and Arabic.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Persian: Basic rules of Persian; simplified prose texts for translation and grammar practice.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Third Year:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    First: Linguistics:<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Sociolinguistics: The place of sociolinguistics in linguistic studies; factors of unification and differentiation in language and dialect; linguistic diversity and its patterns; language and culture; language and religion; and language and politics.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Semantics: Its concept and its relationship to other languages; its fields and applications among Arabs; its problems; its causes; its patterns; and its relationship to other sciences.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Second: Persian and Hebrew Languages:<\/span><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Hebrew: Completion of grammar \u2013 Texts from the Torah and their comparison with Arabic.<\/span><\/li>\n
      2. Persian: Historical literary periods \u2013 Prose and poetry texts \u2013 An overview of Persian literature.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Fourth Year:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

        a) Modern Linguistics:<\/span><\/p>\n

        Problems of contemporary Arabic \u2013 Modern linguistic schools.<\/span><\/p>\n

        b) Comparative or Contrastive Linguistics:<\/span><\/p>\n

          \n
        1. Hebrew: Comparative linguistic phenomena \u2013 Hebrew texts and their comparison with Arabic \u2013 Andalusian Hebrew texts and their impact on the Jews of Andalusia.<\/span><\/li>\n
        2. Persian: Comparative linguistic and literary phenomena \u2013 Persian literary periods \u2013 Mutual influence and interaction between the two languages \u200b\u200band literatures, Persian and Arabic.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
