Egypt Digital Youth Initiative for September 2022

In frame of Aswan University’s societal role towards the surrounding environment, Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman_ Aswan University President_ concluded the events of the “Entrepreneurship Awareness Program”, in attendance of Dr. Magdy Mohamed Ali_Former Vice President of the University, Adviser to Aswan University President and Director of the Masar Center,  Islam Youssef_ the university president’s advisor for student unions affairs, and a number of young graduates and students entrepreneurship.

Prof. Ayman Othman stressed the importance of the role of the Masar Center, which held several workshops that work on business development to support emerging projects and productive clusters. The Center also held two successive sessions; A session on 18th to 19th July  and  another on 20th to 21th  July to educate students, graduates and youth in Aswan Governorate about entrepreneurship.

Dr. Magdy Mohamed Ali added that 250 girls and young men from Aswan Governorate and the neighboring governorates of Luxor and Qena participated in the program. The Masar project also aims to empower youth socially and economically by supporting youth ideas and transforming them into projects that can be realistically implemented and providing non-financial services to emerging project owners. This comes within the framework of cooperation between Aswan University and Enroute Consulting Company.

University President emphasizes the importance of University Centres for Career development in public Universities

Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman_ Aswan University President_ stressed the importance of university centres for career development in public universities during his opening of the activities of the fourth session on “Survey of establishments to survey the opinion on the skills required in the labor market in attendance of Laila Saadi_ Director of the University for Career Development Centre at the university, Mr. Sayed Abdel-Fattah -Public Relations and Communication Officer at the Labor Market Observatory Centre at the Ministry of Higher Education – and Dr. Heba Rashid – representative of the International Labor Organization, and the team of Jisr Company for Surveys Research.

His Excellency added that the course will continue for 5 days with the participation of 13 volunteer students at Aswan University, whereas they were trained on methods and methodologies for data collection from business owners, adding that the staff of professional development centres were trained to supervise the process of collecting, analyzing and publishing information, to obtain Quantitative and qualitative information about the needs of the local labor market, the prevailing trends and the challenges facing business owners in hiring university graduates, in addition to the skills required in the various economic sectors in the governorate.

In the same context, Laila Saadi_ Director of the University Centre for Career Development, explained that for the first time in Egypt a special electronic system will be used for all Career development centers, in order to facilitate the process of collecting and analyzing information, explaining that this system has been activated with the support of the International Labor Organization and the Labor Market Observatory of the Ministry Higher Education.

The implementation of this survey comes within the framework of activities to enhance the capabilities of workers in these centers, as it is one of the components of the University Centers project for Career Development implemented by the American University in Cairo in cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development and the International Labor Organization, which aims to establish 20 centers for Career development in 13 Egyptian public universities.

Aswan University is working on preparing a future strategic plan until 2027

In frame of keeping pace with the strategic plan of Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Aswan University, headed by Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman_ Aswan University president_ is updating the university’s strategic plan 2022/2027 in light of the state’s vision 2030 and the plan of sustainable development and climate change 2050.

For his part, Prof. Ayman Othman confirmed that a committee was formed to update the strategic plan of Aswan University 2022/2027, which includes:

1- Prof. Ayman Othman –University President _Head of the committee.

2- Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Aziz Mehalal _ Director of the International Ranking Office _ Coordinator of the Committee.

3- Prof. Nady Kamal Aziz _ Director of the Quality Assurance Center – Member

4-Prof. Abdel- Qader Mohamed Abdel Kader _ Acting Former University President – Member.

5- Prof.  Adel Zain _Deputy Director of Quality Assurance Center _ Faculty of Energy Engineering dean– Member.

6- Prof. Montaser Mohamed Mohamed _ Emeritus professor at Faculty of Engineering and a member of Quality Assurance Center – member

7- Dr. Mohamedd Abbas Mohamedd – Lecturer at Faculty of Commerce – Member of Quality Assurance Center – Member

8- Dr. Sarah Yassin _ Administrative Officer at Quality Assurance Center – Administrative Officer in the Committee.

Dr. Ayman Othman added that several meetings of the working group have been held and the current situation is being analyzed and questionnaires are being made for the participation of all governmental and private sectors from the internal and external community around the university in Aswan Governorate to come up with a strategic plan in line with the needs and requirements of society in terms of development, health, education, projects, scientific research and others From all services and sectors.

In this context, the committee held a meeting in attendance of and headed by Dr. Ayman Mahmoud Othman and in attendance of Dr. Nady Kamal Aziz Gerges, Director of  Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center at the university, Dr. Abdel- Qader Mohamed_ Former Vice President of Aswan University, and Khaled Asran_ Assistant Secretary General of Aswan University, with directors of central administrations in the University, To analyze the current situation of those Administrations at the university and invite them to make a strategic plan for each administration on the current situation until July 2027 as a prelude to updating the strategic plan of Aswan University.

Four administrations, namely: central student affairs, graduate studies, central research, central cultural relations, and centers and units of special nature, will present a summary of the strategic plan on Wednesday, 15th June 2022. And so every week, four other administrations present a summary of their strategic plans.

Dr. Nadi Kamal Aziz stated that before that, and after that, a meeting of the members of the committee of amending the strategic plan was held and they have come to formulate the vision, mission, governing values ​​and goals, as well as formulating 2 questionnaires to be presented to the central administrations and faculties for their completion and then analyzing the results to reach the current situation of the university and then come up with the proposals of the meeting of the university’s plan amendment committee members.

An invitation to attend an awareness lecture to explain and clarify how to use the unified education platform of Egypt-Hub

Aswan University participates in a workshop to prepare the refugee teachers project

Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman_ Aswan University president_ declared that Aswan University participated in a workshop to prepare refugee, immigrant, expatriates and emergency teachers, and a delegation from the university, headed by Dr. Nady Kamal Aziz Gerges_ Director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center at university participated in the workshop.

His Excellency added that the workshop dealt with the achievements and offers of each university participating in the project, which is Aswan University and 7 other universities, that are Al-Azhar University, 6 October, Zagazig and Heliopolis from Egypt, Crete University from Greece, Frederick University from Cyprus and Bath University from the United Kingdom, under the auspices of Heliopolis University, the main coordinator of the project.

Dr. Nady Kamal Aziz explained that what was included in the Arab-European Network on refugee and immigrant education was presented, while presenting the importance of using the distinguished laboratory of information technology in each faculty to train students and teachers during the service, with a focus on using strategies and teaching methods that keep pace with the era of digital transformation, and planning for the final stage of the project in light of its objectives, publishing in all ways about the project, its objectives and achievements, as well as publishing research related to the project and Education quality and an expanded conference on the project will be held during October 2022.

A Korean delegation visits Aswan University to discuss means of cooperation between the two sides

Today, Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman_ Aswan University President_ received Ambassador Yoon Yewa Chul_ Mayor of Gwangju_ South Korea_ and his accompanying delegation at University Campus in Sahari.

Prof. Ayman Othman welcomed the Korean delegation, and emphasized the deep relationship between Aswan University and Korean universities, through the student exchange of the Korean Language Department at Faculty of Alsun_ Aswan University, Academic staff, and academic exchange through scientific and research missions between the two parties.

For his part, Aswan University President added that this twinning between the two sides to discuss ways of cooperation helps to find job opportunities for graduates from the Korean Language Department of Aswan University in various cultural, engineering, industrial, commercial and tourism fields, and this aims to open new avenues for fruitful and constructive cooperation between the two sides.

Mr. Yoon Yewa Chul referred to the warm reception from the Aswan University President, and the meeting witnessed discussing many aspects of joint cooperation in all fields with Gwangju, which is the sixth largest city in South Korea, with a population of 1.5 million people, explaining that it is also considered a modern economic city. and has unique tourism potentials, as well as important industrial capabilities, especially in the field of home air appliances, casting, cars, photonics, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, medical industry and other industries.

On the other hand, Dr. Ahmed Farman_ assistant Lecturer at Faculty of Archeology_ Aswan University_ explained that the delegation of the South Korean city of Gwangju _ that visited Aswan University today to discuss ways of economic cooperation and investment in the field of tourism and mineral wealth for Aswan and student exchange _ consists of Mr. Yoon Chul _The former ambassador of South Korea in Egypt is currently the ambassador of international relations in Gwangju City, Mr. Lee Jong-hwan – Head of the International Friendship Department in Gwangju City, Mr. Lee Young-jin – Office Manager for Gwangju City, and Mrs. Kim Ho Jin_ Senior Researchers at the Korean Embassy in Cairo. The visit to Aswan University aims to discuss ways of concluding a twinning agreement in the near future between a Korean University in Gwangju City and Aswan University.

At the end of the meeting, Aswan University president and the Mayor of Gwangju exchanged souvenirs in appreciation of the strong cooperation relations between the two sides.

Aswan University holds training course entitled” Early detection of disabilities in the Haya Karima villages”

In frame of the Societal, awareness and cultural role of Aswan University within the presidential initiative of Haya Karima which launched by President/ Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi _president of the republic_ in Aswan university.

Prof. Ayman Othman _Aswan university president _ assured that the participation of Aswan university in the initiative of Haya Karima under patronage of Dr. Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar _Minister of higher Education and scientific research in Different scientific, medical, engineering, human sciences, societal specialties through university faculties.

Aswan University president referred to the importance of the university’s role towards society and the surrounding environment, through the community service and environment development sector at Aswan University and organizing medical, awareness and educational convoys within the presidential initiative “Haya karima” to educate citizens and work to raise awareness of the issues of overpopulation, early marriage and others in governorate villages.

Dr. Rady Abdel-Majid_ Faculty of Education dean _ added that in this context, the Faculty of Education organized a training course under patronage of Prof. Ayman Othman_ University president, and supervision of Dr. Rady Abdel-Majeed Taha_ Faculty of Education dean, and Dr. Manal Mohamed Khodry_ Vice Dean for Society Service and Environment Development_ Aswan University_ entitled “Early detection of disabilities in Haya Karima villages”.

Aswan University participates in a workshop in Greece for Immunological modulation project

Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman_ Aswan University president_ declared that Aswan university has participated in the Immunological modulation project in attendance of Dr. Shimaa Sayed, Dr. Rasha Mohamed Samir, Dr. Shazly Baghdady from Faculty of Medicine, many universities participate in the project as universities of Cairo, Ain Shams, Damanhour from Egypt and European universities from Greece, France and Germany, and this project comes under patronage of Al-Azhar University.

Aswan University president added that the Egyptian team from those universities in participation with the European Universities designed the immunological changes diploma courses_ and they were described with high accuracy in light of Quality Standard.

Dr. Nady Kamal Aziz_ Manager of Quality assurance and Accreditation Centre in Aswan University_ referred to that the aim of the workshop in Greece is Getting the approval of the European External resident for the project on courses description that were approved to be described with high degree.

This approval considers the final stage of course descriptions, followed by the Diploma pilot phase in immunological Modulation (IMCert), which graduates of faculties of medicine, science and pharmacy will join, followed by the accreditation of the diploma from the Supreme Council of Al-Azhar University, and then teaching with that diploma for 50 graduates of those faculties from the five Egyptian universities in the first year.

Aswan University Participates in the first conference of the Immune Modulation Project

Aswan University, headed by Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, Aswan University President_ participated as one of the members and partners of the Immunological Changes Project in the first conference of the project at Al-Azhar University Conferences Hall.

Dr. Nady Kamal Aziz confirmed that Aswan University presented the questionnaire that was applied to some members of society in the governorates of Egypt and its results. The questionnaire consisted of 40 phrases and was applied to 103 individuals. Aswan governorate had the largest share of 22%, followed by Cairo governorate with 18%.

One of the most important results of the questionnaire was that most of the sample members get their information about immune changes and their relationship to climate changes from media and social media, and that the individual’s psychological state, stress and tension affect the immune status of that person.

Therefore, the conference recommended the educational and scientific role of schools and universities in communicating the new in this topic and other ones through scientific and cultural symposiums, artistic and sports activities and others. Dr. Nady Kamal Aziz, Dr. Ahmed Al-Otaifi, Dr. Shazly Baghdadi, and Dr. Noura Al-Sharqawi participated from Aswan University.

Aswan University president mourns UAE president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed

Aswan University president Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman _ faculty deans, Academic staff, Students, employees, mourns with deep sadness and sorrow the UAE president Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed _ the Arab and Islamic nation deceased _who passed away this morning.

Aswan university president offered his sincere condolences to the sons of Sheikh Zayed, the UAE leadership, people, Arab and Islamic nation for the loss of a great national leader for the UAE, praying to Allah to bless him with the vastness of his mercy, forgiveness and satisfaction and to inspire his Family and Relatives patience and solace.
