Editing thesis title:
- The student may submit a request to the department council to amend the title of his research.
- If the amendment does not affect the essence of the subject, the student will be credited for the entire previous period.
- If the amendment is essential, the student will be re-registered starting from the date the Faculty Council approves the amendment.
Supervision:
- Based on the proposal of the relevant department council and the recommendation of the Graduate Studies Committee, the Faculty Council appoints a supervisor for the student from among the professors and assistant professors. It is permissible for more than one supervisor for the student to participate. It is also permissible for lecturers to participate in supervision without participating in the discussion.
- It is not permissible for Academic staff to supervise academic theses submitted by one of his relatives up to the fourth degree of lineage and affinity, with this being applied to what is related to examinations.
- In case of that the supervisor travels abroad for a period exceeding one semester, the concerned department shall take one of the following measures:
- Continuing supervision if the expected period for the student to finish and discuss does not exceed six months.
- Adding a new member to the original supervisor if the period exceeds six months and is less than one academic year.
Transferring supervision to another member if the student is in the first year of preparing the thesis.
In each case, the supervisor must submit a report to the relevant department before allowing him to travel, indicating the student’s condition and the stages he has passed.
- At the end of each academic year, the thesis supervisor submits a report to the relevant department council showing the student’s progress in his research. The report is presented to the Graduate Studies Committee and the Faculty Council. The supervisor may recommend in his report that the student’s enrollment be continued or that his enrollment be cancelled.
