Aswan University continues to host Egyptians returning from Sudan

Aswan University continues in its national role towards Egyptians returning from the brotherly Sudan.

Aswan university president confirmed that as part of state concern of its people abroad and to work for their return to the homeland and implementing to the directives of Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Aswan University worked on providing decent living conditions and outstanding medical service for Egyptians returning from abroad whereas all rooms were equipped and furnished with fans, water coolers and TV screens and home appliances.

Prof. Ghallab added that all preventive and precautionary measures have been implemented in University hostels and following sterilization works and providing all protection means from masks and gloves to keep everyone safe in university hostels.

Prof. Ghallab indicated that the number of stranded persons returning from brotherly republic of Sudan reached to 92 citizens that they have been hosted at academic staff rest and university hostels in Aswan University. Whereas 24 rooms have been provided for accommodation and the guesthouse is fully equipped for quarantine with providing all amenities,

and that in frame of the efforts of the state and the ministry of higher education and scientific research in providing places for quarantine for Egyptians returning from abroad, according to high medical requirement that can keep the safety of citizens returning from abroad until the virus incubation period ends to prevent infection, in addition to that there are 49 persons in the guesthouse in Sahary left after spending the incubation period and returned to their families and Prof. Ahmed Ghallab visited them in the guesthouse to welcome them in university hostel in Aswan university.

Spanish language course

Under patronage of Prof/ Ahmed Ghallab_ Aswan university president and Prof/ Ayman Mahmoud Othman_ vice president for graduate studies and research, the Spanish department announces holding a training course (on line) in Spanish language levels from 1/6/2020 to 8/7/2020, there is a test will be held on 10/7/2020, noting that the trainee will obtain accredited certificate from the Spanish cultural centre that qualifying to graduate studies in Spain and the local test will be held on 9/7/2020.

Aswan University Hospital has taken all precautionary measures toward Corona cases

The administration of  Aswan University Hospital announced about the reported cases of doctors infected with Corona virus that the medical analysis of two of them were positive with coronavirus, it was decided to suspend work in departments of general reception, accidents, orthopedics and cardiology, until the count of people who were in contact with them from the medical staff, employees and patients and taking all appropriate measures to every case. The statement included also intensifying disinfection and sterilization measures which are conducted daily at all Hospital departments to ensure the safety of hospital working staff and visitors.

The university hospital administration calls on everyone to cooperate and follow the anti-infection measures and policies for the safety of everyone. 

Aswan University mourns homeland martyrs in North Sinai

Aswan University, headed by Prof. Ahmed Ghellab Mohamed – Aswan University president, mourns the martyrs of national duty in Bir Al-Abd in North Sinai, The university administration presents its best condolences to the political leadership, general commander of armed forces and families of the martyrs.

The university administration stresses the need to stand behind the Egyptian army to fight terrorism, wishing for the injured a speedy recovery, may Allah protect Egypt and its president, army and people from all evil and hatred.

Aswan University council held its meeting by video conference for the first time

 

Aswan university council No. 92 was held today headed by Aswan University president Prof/ Ahmed Ghallab Mohamed by Video conference (online) for the first time with faculty deans to discuss exams procedures of the second semester 2020.

At first, Prof/Ghallab congratulated the political leadership, minister of higher education and scientific research, faculty deans, academic staff, their assistants and university employees on occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, whishing that Allah preserve Egypt safe, secure and prosperous.

Prof/ Ghallab assured on implementing the supreme council of universities’ resolution of second semester exams according to the directives of Ministry that students will be evaluated through two samples, first: faculties of high density (research project), students of transport classes will be evaluated by presenting research on the parts of the curriculum either before study suspension or via distance learning up to 30/4/2020. The lecturer will determined some of topics, not less than three and not more than five and that on his account on E-learning platform, these topics will be announced no later than 7/5/2020 and the evaluation for every student individually, facilitate to students, it is permissible to students to write the research handwriting, photographing and converting it to PDF file and uploading on his account on E-learning platform and that from Sunday 31/5/2020 to 20/6/2020 and supporting students through direct contact with E-learning Unit.

The council discussed forming a committee headed by University president Prof/Ahmed Ghallab, the vice president for graduate studies and research Prof/Ayman Othman and deans of some faculties and Prof/ Mohamed Eid _Manager of Information Center in the university to follow implementing the council’s mechanisms to evaluate the works of students exams, the evaluation of scientific faculties with low density will be electronically in case of the electronic basis of faculties is available as faculties of medicine and veterinary medicine. Taking into account the second round exams and postponing to the next semester in order to achieve equality between them and other students in cumulative degrees.

Minister of higher Education denies that research paper is sufficient to the final year students

The official spokesman of Ministry of higher Education and scientific research denies all social media reports or any others platforms that stated the submitted research for final year students is sufficient and assuring that all resolutions issued by supreme council of Universities in its session No.699 of 18 April 2020 which included” Final Year exams are postponed to all faculties which ware scheduled to be held at the end of study suspension, universities are entrusted to set the schedules and providing necessary controls to that and Taking into account giving students an appropriate time period before performing exams and coordination with all concerned authorities of the state to overcome any obstacles that students may face as a result of postponement of their graduation.

Minister of Higher education calls on social media users to be accurate and objective in publishing news and to contact with Ministry’s concerned authorities to ensure the information before publishing news are not true and leads to confusion, all the news and data of ministry of higher education and scientific research are published on the official page of Ministry on Facebook.

A Complete sterilization cabin has been installed at University hospital to combat coronavirus

Aswan university president Prof/ Ahmed Ghallab Mohamed said that two sterilization cabins were presented by Ministry of higher education and scientific research to Aswan University, and today a complete sterilization cabin was installed in university hospital among the precautionary measures taken by Ministry of Higher Education and scientific Research to sterilize all attendants in University Hospital and working on protecting the medical staff and employees at University hospital.

Prof/ Ghallab added that it provided self- sterilization for all patients visiting the hospital and temperature measurement to limit the spread of Coronavirus.

Aswan University president Prof/ Ahmed Ghallab Mohamed congratulated Coptic brothers on occasion of Easter day and spring holiday

Prof/ Ahmmed Ghallab congratulated his Holiness Pope Tawadros, patriarch of st.mark and all heads of all Christian denominations in Egypt and Reverend / Hedra Matran and all Egyptian Christians , and may Allah bless Egyptian people and getting safety and security for all sects under the leadership of president/ Abdel-fattah El-sisi _president of the republic.

Dr. Ahmed Ghellab pointed out the importance of cooperation and consolidating values of Love and tolerance that promote cooperation and community peace and working on spreading those human values that presented by Egypt and its ancient civilization to humanity and always the great origin of Egyptian people appear under crises conditions, and that the Coptic and Muslim brothers are homeland weave

The President of the University added that the Egyptian people are one weave and partners in homeland and with unity and interdependence, Egypt will achieve goodness, prosperity and stability, and overcome all crises.

Media statement of supreme council of universities dated 18th April 2020

In the meeting which was held today 18/4/2020 in its session No. 699,  the Supreme Council of Universities discussed all issues related to future plans of study system for the second semester exams for the academic year 2019/2020 in frame of the global developments of  the spread of corona virus.

 

The Council started its session by presenting resolutions of the Prime Minister No. 606 of 2020 concerning the suspension of all activities that require any large gatherings of citizens and 717 of 2020 concerning study in all schools, institutes and universities and 768 of 2020 concerning the comprehensive state plan to protect citizens from any possible repercussions of Corona virus and Decision No. 852 of 2020 Whereas the Supreme Council discussed all the options and alternatives available for the continuation of the educational process in order to achieve the basic requirements of criteria for completing the curricula, in light of the difference in the nature and study system in each faculty. 

The Council unanimously decided:

First: The Supreme Council of Universities decided to complete the curricula with distance education system until 30/4/2020 for all classes.

Second: for all transport classes in faculties:

1- The Supreme Council of Universities decided to cancel the oral and written exams for the second semester for the current academic year 2019/2020; the grades that were scheduled for them are excluded from the total grade for all academic years (cumulative total). The Supreme Council of Universities also decided to replace these exams -based on a decision by the University Council- with one of the following alternatives:

 – Preparing (Research articles-Research project- reference research) in the study curricula or conducting electronic exams to all students in the academic curricula

Universities will announce all the details of the research papers, the schedules and methods of submitting the research, as well as all the details and the scheduled dates of exams, the  deadline of electronic exams no later than Thursday 7/5/2020 to begin submission of the research or conducting electronic exams on Sunday 31/5/2020.

– For faculties whose requires practical or clinical training and practical exams:

The training will be complete in the second semester after the end of suspension period or at the beginning of the new academic year

Third:-For Final Year students of all faculties:

Examinations which were decided to be held at the end of the second semester are postponed until the end of the period of study suspension.

Universities will present the schedules and controls needed to implement this, taking into consideration giving students an appropriate period of time before performing the exams, overcoming all obstacles that face students as a result of their delay in graduation

Fourth: postgraduate studies will be left to every university to be decided after study suspension period, the suspension period of study is not counted within the duration of study required to obtain the degree.

Fifth: The supreme council decided to form a committee headed by:

Prof/ Essam Al-Kurdi _ President of Alexandria University

And the membership of:

Prof/ Majid Negm – President of Helwan University.

Prof/Tareq El-Gammal – President of Assiut University.

Prof/Ashraf Abdel-Baset – President of Mansoura University.

Prof/ Mohamed Latif – Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities (member and rapporteur).

 Prof/ Siddik Abdel-Salam – Secretary of the Council of Private and national Universities.

Prof/ Hassan Ahmed Mohamed – Adviser to the Minister of Higher Education for Institutes Affairs.

The Counselor/ Mohamed Al- Minshawi – Legal Adviser to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research

  • The Committee will follow up the implementation of the decisions of the Supreme Council of Universities, receiving any inquiries from universities related to their application, examine any special cases resulting from the application of those decisions, to express an opinion on them, and coordinate between universities in this regard, and communicate with the concerned authorities to work to overcome any obstacles that prevent implementing the council decisions and preparing periodic reports to be presented to the Council on the implementation of the measures taken to complete the second semester in light of those decisions and to consider issues referred to it by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in matters related to its field of work, and the Committee should submits its recommendations to the Council for approval.

 

Minister of higher Education announces ISESCO short film award

Prof/ Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar _ Minister of higher education and scientific research and head of the Egyptian national committee of UNESCO_ announced that the Islamic world Educational, scientific and cultural organization (ISESCO) launched ISESCO short film award within its initiative of (Distance Culture) inside (ISESCO house for short film).

The organization indicated that the aim of launching this award is to motivating creativity and discover talents and promoting a culture of peace and forming the digital library of ISESCO for short films. 

Award fields:      

(Drama –documentation-popular heritage & folklore –Human values –Health & Environment –Children films- everyday life in corona time –comedy)

The organization indicated that the award will grant to the best three short films as the following:

First: $8,000

Second: $6,000

Third: $4,000

The organization has set many conditions for applicants to get the award including the following:

  • The show time should be no longer than 4 minutes.
  • The film should not have been presented in any competition before.
  • Humanity, religion and patriotism shouldn’t be compromised.
  • The film should include a translation of one of the three languages of the organization.
  • The film may be with natural sounds and music without speech.

It is decided that the organization will form specialized arbitration committee to select the winning short films, the awards ceremony will be at ISESCO headquarter in Rabat.
